Evangelist Kendra Sims, a proud Southern woman from College Park, Georgia, is deeply passionate about the Lord and the work of advancing His Kingdom. Kendra earned her Bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies from Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama, where she also pledged Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. She went on to obtain a Master’s in Social Work from Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia. With her education and experience, Kendra understands the importance of integrating physical, mental, and spiritual health.
At the age of 24, Kendra was licensed as a minister at her home church, New Macedonia Baptist Church in Riverdale, Georgia. Three years later, at 27, she became a fully licensed Evangelist Missionary at West Angeles Church in Los Angeles.
In March 2018, Kendra published her first book, I’m Saved but I Struggle: A Realistic Look at Salvation, which debuted on Amazon and Kindle. More recently, Kendra was featured as a Trailblazer by Voyage ATL, an online magazine that highlights influential individuals making a difference in their communities.
Kendra is also the founder and host of "Let’s Be Honest," an online Bible study streamed on YouTube and Facebook. This platform provides a space where God's children can remove their masks and engage with others who are seeking spiritual growth. She is also a regular speaker at Purpose Driven Women Outreach (501c3) retreats and serves as a Bible study teacher.
Currently, Kendra lives in Los Angeles, California, where she works as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with three nonprofit organizations that specialize in foster youth placement. She works directly with teenagers in group home settings and trains current and prospective relative caregivers for children in foster care.
Outside of her ministry and social work, Kendra enjoys attending concerts, traveling both domestically and internationally, and all things stationery. Her mission in life is to inspire others to find hope in all circumstances, reminding them that every day is an opportunity to live with purpose.
Since June 2024, Kendra has embraced the title of "accidental philanthropist." Under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, she founded Because You Can Give Back (BYC), an organization that raises funds and resources to assist displaced and unhoused individuals in Los Angeles and Atlanta. BYC also partners with organizations like The Birthday Party Project and Nicholas House Atlanta, tailoring its donations to meet the specific needs of their populations.
